Attorney/Intellectual Property
The candidate will manage company's foreign patent portfolio. Will review PCT/International Patent Applications and other formal papers required for foreign filings and instruct foreign associates on handling applications. Review documents, fees and information required to complete international patent filings. Prepare and file patent applications on a worldwide basis for assigned business segments. Conduct patent searches. Work with the technical and business managers to identify and protect company's IP positions. Assess competitive activities and assisting in setting IP strategy for assigned business segments. Address client counseling patent matters and related issues. Manage outside counsel who are handling patent matters for assigned business segments.The candidate should have a J.D. degree, admission to a State Bar (if not admitted to Massachusetts, admission or registration to be sought within an agreed to time following hiring) and USPTO Registration or in the alternative. Must have 5+ years of legal patent preparation and prosecution experience, preferably in-house counsel/agent experience. Should have degree and experience in one or more scientific or engineering disciplines, preferably material science, chemical engineering or chemistry.
